Responsibilities:
Ford Powertrain Manufacturing engineers contribute to the design and production of the most innovative engines and transmissions being manufactured globally today. Manufacturing Assembly Engineers at Ford are responsible for the development of world-class assembly systems through their support of the cross-functional teams that deliver all of the subsystems that make up an entire assembly process for a new product engine or transmission program.
• You will be a member of a team of engineers responsible for the development and implementation of Assembly systems for manufacturing Engines and Transmissions that are aligned to standard Bill of Process strategies through system inquiry, simultaneous engineering, build, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Co-lead resolution of manufacturing concerns by interfacing with Component Product Module Teams (CPMT) to evaluate assembly feasibility, and incorporate Design-for-Assembly / Design-for-Manufacturing principles.
• Lead development of process documentation (e.g. DCP, PFMEA, GSPAS, Process Sheets, Process Illustrations, Tool set up drawings, etc.)
• Drive the Investment Efficiency Process with PD and Assembly Equipment OEMs
• Provide cost estimates to achieve F&T and HPU objectives
• Issue Purchase Requisitions for all assembly process related equipment (or coordinate with Regional Joint Venture Teams in support of their equipment purchasing procedures)
• Support evaluation of bids for equipment purchase
• Support Simultaneous Engineering activity with OEM's, including approval of all Target Agreements
• Responsible for overall timing plans & recovery actions
• Support GPDS / Integrator input for Assembly Systems
• Support all process layout reviews
• Support Virtual Assembly or Manufacturing Builds / MA Event input & support (including deviation process & open issue resolution)
• Lead development of Make Like Production (MLP) plan, tryout part coordination and runoff strategy
• Be the primary contact and interface for given component / process with New Programs Leader
• Ensure supplier processes for externally purchased components are aligned with internal requirements (e.g. gauging and processing methodologies, shipping requirements, etc...)
• Lead resolution of all issues after Build Purchase Order placement
• Run-off equipment at supplier and in plant to show capability and robustness including safety
• Interface with plant teams such as the launch team, NML, skilled trades and the groups responsible for maintenance planning and spare requisitioning
• Participate in Peer Reviews – share and Cascade Lessons Learned
• Understand R&M of equipment and support OEMs
• Support QS 9000 and ISO 14000, PPAP and APQP processes
• Support appropriate Six Sigma projects
• Model "Team Values and Leadership Behaviors”
Qualifications :
• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field
• 5 years experience in automobile industries preferred
Entry-level candidates will be considered
• Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Extensive manufacturing assembly process knowledge
Solid understanding of GD&T, Blue print reading, Tolerance stack up and assembly process design
Experience in developing manual and automatic stations, as well as systems
• In Automobile Industries - Passenger Car industry preferred
• Process Discipline , Project Management Skills, Quality mindset
Strong Analytical Skills, Excellent Computer Skill
• Experience in team based environment
Excellent English oral presentation skills
Quality Systems, Autocad, problem solving techniques
