The initial material for sheet metal forming is pre-punched sheet metal blanks, which
are brought into their desired final form by means of several successive rounding off,
deep-drawing and stretching process. This is made possible by the use of an
automatic forming device which is equipped with what are called transfer tools.
These are successively positioned tools which all simultaneously perform the
automatic forming device's stroke and thereby each performs one stage of forming
(which is why they are also referred to as staged tools). The component passes
through a new stage with each stroke of the machine. The automatic forming devices
are able to operate with a pressure output of up to 5000 KN, whereby up to 10
staged tools are possible.
